HCPS New Teacher Academy 2026

During this session, all early learning preschool, elementary educators, and elementary long-term substitutes will attend a level-setting professional learning experience that helps general education teachers understand how exceptional education works in HCPS.

In this session, Kindergarten educators will learn to navigate and use the Kindergarten Benchmark resources and materials.

This open lab session is designed for teachers who would like individualized, one-on-one support with PowerTeacher and PTPro Gradebook. Rather than formal training, participants can stop by to ask questions, receive guidance, and get hands-on assistance with navigating the system, entering grades, and managing gradebook tasks efficiently.
This session is ideal for Year 1 teachers, board substitutes, and anyone who is new to or would benefit from additional support using PowerTeacher and PTPro Gradebook. Come with your questions and work at your own pace while receiving personalized assistance.

During this session, grades Kindergarten to 2 educators and board substitutes will learn practical strategies for building positive relationships with students' families and leveraging supports from the community.

During this session, Year 1 grades K-2 educators and grades K-2 board substitutes will learn practical strategies for integrating SEL into daily instruction to create a learner-centered environment.

During this session, Year 1 grades K-2 educators and grades K-2 board substitutes will receive an introduction about the Henrico County Public Schools' Culturally Responsive Education Model and reflect on ways to use it in creating a learner-centered environment.
